The Redeemer is an English novel on Srimanta Sankaradeva. It depicts the life and time of Srimanta Sankaradeva, the medieval litterateur reformer. It was a tumultous time. Assam in medieval period saw the worst sufferings of humanity. Ethnic groups were fighting among themselves. Dignity of lives were lost. Security of lives were simply absent. Priests imposed numerous rituals upon people and extorted them. Rulers were oblivious of their subjects' woes. It was such a time when a reformer appeared on the scene. 210 page long, the novel covers the entire life of Srimanta Sankaradeva. It starts with the arrival of the saint in king Naranarayana's court and goes in flash back. The entire novel is based on hagiographical and historical materials, based on the author's research.
