Our Journey
The roots of SSS go back to February 23, 2011, when Dr. Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti created the Facebook group Followers of Srimanta Sankaradeva (FSS) with the vision of spreading Sankaradeva’s message globally. The group quickly grew, connecting followers across continents.
Building on this momentum, members of FSS established the Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva (SSS) on May 22, 2011. Since then, SSS has:
- Organized offline events, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Published books, brochures, and resources to spread Sankaradeva’s teachings.
- Supported artisans of Sankari culture, reviving traditional crafts that were on the verge of extinction.
- Revived the dying craft of Manuscript Painting and introduced correct Aharya in Bhaona.
- Partnered in important cultural initiatives, including being recognized as a stakeholder when the Government of Assam presented Majuli to UNESCO.
